Growing fresh food with My Greens hydroponics

How it works

Grow your own food.
No experience needed.

The My Greens tower is designed for everyday New Zealanders — not horticulturists. It grows up to 48 fresh herbs, greens and strawberries outdoors, with no soil, no weeds, and no guesswork. If you've never grown hydroponically before, that's exactly who we built this for.

How the My Greens Hydroponic Tower Works

The My Greens Tower uses a simple water-based growing method designed to give plants everything they need without soil or digging. A large reservoir at the base of the tower is filled with water and nutrients, which are designed specifically for this system.

This nutrient-rich water is gently pumped to the top of the tower and flows down through each planting level, feeding the roots as it goes. The water then returns to the reservoir and is reused, creating a continuous, efficient growing cycle.

Because plants always have access to water and nutrients, they don’t waste energy searching for food in the soil. Instead, they can focus on growing strong, healthy leaves and producing fresh fruit — faster and more reliably than traditional garden beds.

The best investment we made

PATRICE HALLIDAY-LARSON, MY GREENS GROWER

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Rating (5)

“The best investment we made was getting our hydroponic garden through My Greens. We had never been into gardening before, so we were excited but also a little nervous. Our vegetables look fantastic and are growing so fast, and the help and support from Megan and Chris made it a breeze.”

How do I monitor the Nutrients and pH?

The first thing to understand is what we are talking about when we mention monitoring the pH and nutrient level.

pH: There is a water pH range where your plants can absorb the nutrients the easiest - that happy range is typically pH5.5-pH6.5. We use a reader pen to test the water's pH (tap water is typically around 7.0-8.5pH), then we add pH Lower to bring it down to that happy range. In our tower package, we supply you with both the reader pH pen and the pH Lower solution.

EC: The EC is easily described as the nutrients available in the water for the plants to use in order to grow. The EC level is based on what you're growing, and those ranges are noted on your nutrient mix bottles. Again, in your tower package we supply you with both the EC reader pen and the nutrient mix to feed your plants.

It’s recommended to maintain the water in your tower once a week. This includes topping up the water reservoir and checking the water's pH and EC level. If needed, adjust the pH and EC, then retest until you’re in both of the ranges. During peak summer, it’s best to check the levels twice a week, as plants are fully developed and tend to use more water and nutrients in the heat.
