My Greens Growing mix is made up of 50/50 Vermiculite and Perlite. 2.5L is enough to service approx six full growing cycles of a My Greens Hydroponics System, approx. 18 months' worth. We recommend using this around your stonewool to help retain structure and moisture.
Vermiculite is a natural, sterile, soft mica mineral, which can be added to any growing media. It has great water holding and insulation properties. Vermiculite is odourless, lightweight and easy-to-use. Perlite is used as a way to improve the aeration and drainage of your chosen media. Perlite is a natural, pH neutral, sterile growing medium derived from volcanic rock, which is odourless, lightweight and easy-to-use.
Benefits of using a blend of Vermiculite and Perlite in your My Greens system:
- Vermiculite holds water whilst Perlite holds very little water which creates a growing media for plants that holds both water and air.
- The combination leads to faster growth, through good aeration and nutrient uptake.
