How to plant out your
Hydroponic Tower

In a My Greens Hydroponic Tower you can either grow from seed, or seedling. Below is a guide for each. You can mix and match when planting out your tower, based on the availability of plants and seeds in your area.

  • STEP ONE

Soak the Stonewool in water for 10mins prior to use, you will need one cube per Net Cup.

  • STEP TWO

Place a soaked Stonewool cube into a Net Cup - divet side up, ensuring the Stonewool is sitting on the bottom of the Net Cup. Place 2-3 seeds into the divet.

  • STEP THREE

Top with Vermiculite/Perlite, up to the top of the rim of the Net Cup. Place into the tower. Once germinated, choose the strongest seedling to keep and remove any extras, leaving one plant per Net Cup.

Pull the plant out of the soil and hose off any debris around the roots, as much as possible.

  • STEP THREE

Tear the Stonewool open and sandwhich the plant inside. The top of the Stonewool should hold the plant at a similar depth that the soil was, and the roots hang out the bottom (if long enough).

  • STEP 4

Place the Stonewool into the bottom of the Net Cup. You should be able to see the roots from underneath (if long enough).

  • STEP 5

Cover with Vermiculite/Perlite, to the top of the Net Cup and place into your tower.

Seasonal Hydroponic planting guide

Growing with Hydroponics in New Zealand does not mean you can only grow lettuce. We plant with the seasons to get a great varied crop, if you're planting your system indoors or in a greenhouse, your seasons will be extended due to the added warmth. We can grow a wide variety in our outdoor NFT hydroponic system, let's explore what we can achieve.

Note: Some plants grow large bases and may damage your net cup, making it not reusable. These include larger plants like Spinach, Leek, Chilli, Capsicum, oversized brassicas, occasionally Parsley and Silverbeet.
